The ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ fund has so far collected over Rs. 4,286 million (Rs. 4.2 billion), Finance Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma said.
According to Dr. Suriyapperuma, Rs. 4,263 million has been contributed by local businessmen, while the remainder has come through direct foreign currency deposits. The total dollar value of contributions has exceeded 13.8 million dollars, with foreign currency donations alone surpassing 6 million dollars.
The aid has poured in from 43 countries, including North America, Australia, China, England, Germany, Bhutan, Italy, Canada, UAE, New Zealand, Maldives, Saudi Arabia, France, and Korea, the Secretary added.
Dr. Suriyapperuma expressed gratitude to both local and international contributors for supporting Sri Lanka’s rebuilding efforts.
