The case pertaining to the accident involving a jeep driven by former Speaker and National People’s Power (NPP) MP Ashoka Ranwala, in which three persons were injured, is scheduled to be taken up before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court today.

The Maligakanda Magistrate had recently visited the Colombo National Hospital, where the MP was receiving treatment, and ordered his release on two surety bonds of Rs. 200,000 each. The Magistrate further directed that the case be transferred and heard at the Mahara Magistrate’s Court.

Meanwhile, police have initiated steps to file charges in court, citing that the brake system of the jeep involved in the accident had not been properly maintained.
