Jaffna District Independent Group MP Ramanathan Archuna told Parliament that he lost both of his mobile phones after being caught in floods in Mannar on November 27.

Addressing the House, the MP said his vehicle was swept away by floodwaters during the incident and that both mobile phones were also carried away by the strong currents. He said he was rescued by several Sri Lanka Army personnel, whom he referred to as Sinhala war heroes.

Archuna said the loss of the phones has caused him significant inconvenience, as both devices contained his complete contact directories, which were also lost in the floods.

He further informed Parliament that he has since obtained a new mobile phone and is in the process of restoring his telephone connections and re-establishing communication.
