A landslide has been activated in a mound near the town of Hunnasgiriya following heavy rainfall in the area, the District Disaster Management Center said.
According to the Center, the landslide occurred early this morning as a result of continuous rain linked to Cyclone Ditwa.
A safety center has been established close to the affected site to accommodate people impacted by the cyclone. Authorities confirmed that residents in the vicinity have been evacuated as a precautionary measure to ensure their safety.
Officials continue to monitor the situation and have urged the public to remain vigilant as adverse weather conditions persist.
