The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory, warning of showers, thundershowers, and fairly strong winds across parts of the island.

Showers are expected at times in the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts, with some areas likely to receive fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm.

Northern and North-western provinces, along with Anuradhapura district, may experience several spells of showers, while other regions are expected to see showers or thundershowers after 1.00 p.m.

Fairly strong winds, reaching up to 40 kmph, are likely at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces, and in Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.

Misty conditions are expected during the early morning hours in parts of Sabaragamuwa, Western, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.

The public is advised to exercise caution and take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
