A special cargo plane carrying 69,000 kilograms of disaster relief supplies worth €5 million from Germany and Luxembourg arrived at Katunayake Airport in the early hours of December 17.
The Boeing 747-400 cargo aircraft, which landed from Liege, Germany, at 4:30 a.m., brought a large consignment of essential relief items, including tents, mattresses, kitchen utensils, and water purification equipment.
German Deputy Ambassador to Sri Lanka Sarah Hasselbarth, European Union Ambassador Pierre Tripon, and officials from the Disaster Management Center were present at the airport to receive the shipment.
The aid is part of ongoing European Union support to assist Sri Lanka in responding to recent natural disasters and humanitarian needs.
