Matale supermarket fined for misleading consumers over rice sales Legal action was taken against a supermarket on Dambulla Road in Nalanda, Matale, for selling Keeri Samba rice at inflated prices and issuing bills under the false name “Lanka Basmati,” misleading consumers.
The businessman in charge admitted to the offense, and the Naula Magistrate’s Court imposed a fine of Rs. 110,000 today (16).
Authorities have urged consumers to remain vigilant and carefully check bills and prices when purchasing goods to avoid being misled.
