The President described the recent cyclone as one of the largest disasters the country has faced in recent times and commended the efforts of the tri-forces, Police and public officials involved in relief and rehabilitation work.
He noted that due to their commitment, a significant portion of essential infrastructure, including electricity, water supply and roads, has already been restored. The President added that the Government’s ability to provide substantial compensation to affected communities is the result of strong fiscal discipline.
