The government has announced that a one-time nutrition allowance of Rs. 5,000 will be granted to pregnant mothers in light of the prevailing disaster situation and the upcoming festive season.
According to the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, the allowance will be provided to all pregnant mothers who were registered at maternal clinics on or before 30 November 2025.
The distribution process, carried out through Divisional Secretariat offices, will begin on 16 December under a special programme implemented by the National Secretariat for Early Childhood Development.
Officials said the initiative aims to support vulnerable families affected by the current weather-related crises while ensuring the well-being of expectant mothers during the festive period.
