The United Nations Development Programme has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s post-disaster recovery, following a meeting with the Prime Minister on 8 December.
UNDP representatives expressed their readiness to work closely with the Government to enhance coordination and strengthen ongoing partnerships aimed at improving the efficiency of reconstruction and humanitarian response. They emphasised the importance of leveraging advanced assessment tools and collaborative frameworks to accelerate recovery efforts.
The meeting was attended by key international officials, including World Bank Country Manager Dr. Gevorg Sargsyan, UNDP Resident Representative Azusa Kubota, the South Asia Director for UNOPS, and senior Sri Lankan government representatives.
