The Ministry of Education has directed all principals, teachers, and non-academic staff attached to schools reopening on December 16 to report for duty a day earlier, on December 15.

Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewa said that a relaxed dress policy will be applied to both students and staff in schools located in areas affected by recent disaster conditions, in order to ease difficulties faced by families recovering from the situation.

Issuing a statement to the media, Kaluwewa highlighted several matters currently under consideration, including the disruption caused by adverse weather, progress in restoring affected schools, the commencement of the second phase of the third school term for 2025, and preparations for the GCE Advanced Level Examination.

He said the ministry will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
