President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the Government’s primary responsibility is to ensure a safe life for every citizen, especially as communities recover from the recent disaster.
Speaking at the District Coordinating Committee meeting in Badulla today (08), the President said proper supervision is essential during the resettlement of affected families.
Badulla District alone has recorded 64,140 affected individuals from 19,133 families, with 418 houses completely destroyed and 7,703 partially damaged.
He reviewed the progress of restoring essential services—including roads, electricity, water supply, irrigation, communication, agriculture, livestock, health, and education—and instructed officials to address all public needs without delay.
The President thanked the Tri-forces, government officials, and volunteers for their dedicated service in supporting affected communities.
