President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed government institutions not to return any part of the allocations provided for 2025 infrastructure development. He emphasized that all necessary repairs must be completed before 31 December using the funds already issued.

Addressing officials during the Badulla District Coordinating Committee meeting today (08), the President said there is no shortage of funds for relief, reconstruction, or restoring normal life.

He urged all institutions to act with proper coordination and remove bureaucratic limitations during this emergency period.

He also directed that road repairs be carried out simultaneously across all categories—national, provincial, and local—with additional funds available upon request. Permanent repair estimates for all damaged roads must be submitted, with work expected to begin in January.

Officials reported that 90% of power outages in the district have already been restored, and water supply services are stabilizing.
