The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has confirmed that 269 tourists were affected by Cyclone Ditwah, with the largest groups being 52 Indians and 40 Bulgarians. Authorities are currently locating the tourists and confirming their safety.
In a statement, Sri Lanka Tourism said the reopening of several tourist attractions, signaling a return to normalcy following the cyclone. Utilities, transport networks, and essential services have largely been restored, allowing tourism infrastructure, accommodations, and attractions to resume operations.
Wildlife sites, national parks, marine tourism areas, forest sites, and cultural sites are now open. Popular tourism zones, including Negombo, Kalutara, Passikudah, Hikkaduwa, Bentota/Beruwala, Ella, and Arugam Bay, are reporting favourable weather conditions.
Ella is accessible via the Wellawaya route, and major highways and road networks connecting key cities and tourist destinations remain operational, ensuring smooth travel for visitors.
