A double murder and a serious injury were reported from the Norochcholai Police Division following an attack in the Nawakkaduwa area last night (03).
Police said a man and two women were attacked with a sharp weapon and were rushed to the Puttalam Hospital with critical injuries. The man, aged 38, and one of the women, aged 35, died after admission to hospital. All three victims were residents of the Nawakkaduwa area.
Initial investigations revealed that the attack stemmed from a personal dispute.
The suspect, a 23-year-old man from the same area, has been arrested and is currently receiving treatment at the Puttalam Hospital under police protection.
The Norochcholai Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
