A special gazette notification has been issued declaring 22 administrative districts as National Disaster Zones due to the severe impact of Cyclone Ditwah.

The declaration has been made under Section 9 of Part 11 of the Registration of Deaths (Temporary Provisions) Act No. 19 of 2010.

Authorities stated that this decision was taken considering the extensive damage caused across multiple regions of the country as a result of several days of adverse weather conditions, heavy rainfall, and widespread flooding.

Accordingly, the following districts have been designated as National Disaster Zones:

2. Nuwara Eliya

3. Badulla

4. Kurunegala

5. Matale

6. Kegalle

7. Gampaha

8. Mullaitivu

9. Anuradhapura

10. Colombo

11. Jaffna

12. Polonnaruwa

13. Mannar

14. Puttalam

15. Ratnapura

16. Monaragala

17. Batticaloa

18. Ampara

19. Trincomalee

20. Kilinochchi

21. Vavuniya

22. Kalutara

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant as relief operations continue across the affected regions.
