The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation said that large quantities of vegetables are now being collected from key cultivation areas in the Badulla District, including Welimada and Keppetipola. Bulk stocks of vegetables such as cabbage, carrots, and beans are arriving despite the challenging situation in the region.

To ensure these supplies reach markets without delay, the Ministry has requested trade agents to use the currently accessible Ella–Wellawaya road for transportation. Officials said this route will help maintain a steady flow of vegetables to the public during this difficult period.

The Ministry also expressed its appreciation to traders and transport operators for helping keep vegetable prices affordable at a time when many families are struggling.
