A Public Health Inspector (PHI) engaged in disaster relief operations has reportedly received death threats from a local politician belonging to a political party, according to the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association.
Association Chairman Pradeep Boralessa said that the politician verbally abused the PHI and forcibly removed the life jacket the officer was wearing while on duty. He said health authorities have been notified and a formal police complaint has been lodged regarding the incident.
Boralessa strongly condemned the attack, stating that the Association rejects such acts of intimidation against Public Health Inspectors who continue to perform their duties with commitment during this challenging period.
