The center section of the bridge located near the Yakkala Ayurveda area on the main Colombo–Kandy Road is reportedly caving in, according to Gampaha District Coordination Committee Chairman and Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe.
Authorities warn that the structural instability poses a serious risk to motorists and pedestrians using this critical route. Engineering teams and road safety officials have been alerted, and an immediate inspection is underway to assess the extent of the damage.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and follow instructions from traffic police deployed in the area. Further updates are expected as officials continue to evaluate the situation.
