Japan has announced that it will extend emergency assistance to Sri Lanka as the country faces severe destruction caused by extreme weather conditions.
The Japanese government stated that an assessment team will be dispatched through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support ongoing relief operations. The team will include medical experts who will assess Sri Lanka’s immediate healthcare needs and coordinate the potential deployment of a full Japanese disaster relief mission.
Japan will also provide urgent relief supplies—including tents, blankets, and other essential items—through JICA to assist families affected by flooding and landslides.
