Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India stands ready to extend all necessary assistance to Sri Lanka as the country battles the severe impacts of Cyclone Ditwah.
In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Modi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones due to the cyclone. “My heartfelt condolences to the people of Sri Lanka who have lost their loved ones due to Cyclone Ditwah. I pray for the safety, comfort and swift recovery of all affected families,” he wrote.
Modi announced that India has already dispatched relief materials and vital Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) support under Operation Sagar Bandhu. He said India remains prepared to provide additional aid as the situation evolves.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to its closest maritime neighbour, Modi added that New Delhi’s response is guided by its Neighbourhood First policy and Vision MAHASAGAR, underscoring India’s long-standing readiness to support Sri Lanka in times of crisis.
