The Department of Meteorology announced early this morning (28) that Cyclone “Ditwa,” which earlier passed 20 km southwest of Batticaloa, is now centered approximately 50 km south of Trincomalee.
According to the advisory, the system is expected to continue moving in a north-northwesterly direction over the coming hours. The Met Department urges the public to remain alert as heavy rainfall, strong winds, and rough seas are likely in several parts of the country due to the cyclonic conditions.
