The Speaker of Parliament, Jagath Wickramaratne, announced today (27) that a Parliamentary Select Committee has been appointed to investigate the reports and complaints surrounding the release of 323 containers from the Colombo Port.
The committee will be chaired by Minister Harshana Nanayakkara and is expected to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the chain of events, the actions of relevant state officials, and whether any laws or procedures were violated during the release of the containers.
The Speaker emphasized that the committee’s primary objective is to provide clarity on the concerns raised among the public and ensure accountability where necessary.
