The Thambuththegama Magistrate's Court has ordered the remand of a primary school principal from the Eppawala area, arrested with over one kilogram of heroin, until December 10.
When the suspect was produced before the court on next date, Magistrate Gayathri Hettiarachchi directed the Anuradhapura Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau (DCIB) to include the principal's son in the ongoing investigation and produce him in court.
The principal was arrested on November 5 after police recovered 1 kilogram and 185 grams of heroin, reportedly belonging to him, buried behind a hotel in Eppawala. Police also seized an electronic scale and a polythene sealer, allegedly used by the suspect to measure and package the drugs, which were found dumped in a nearby tank.
