The Nuwara Eliya District edition of the “Clean Sri Lanka” mobile services and special public service program, part of the national initiative “A Happy Country, Clean Sri Lanka from Village to Village”, was successfully held on 23rd November at the Hatton Railway Station New Building, benefiting a large number of residents.
The event was attended by prominent officials, including Nuwara Eliya District Development Committee Chairman and MP Manjula Suraweerarachchi, MP Ms. Kalaichelvi, Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Mrs. Thushari Tennakoon, and other government representatives.
The program was jointly organized by the Nuwara Eliya District Secretariat, Ambagamuwa, Norwood, and Talawakelle Divisional Secretariats, Hatton Dickoya Urban Council, and several other government institutions.
The mobile service targeted residents of Ambagamuwa, Norwood, and Talawakelle, providing a wide range of services, including issuing identity cards, birth and marriage certificates, resolving land, agricultural, and plantation-related issues, and offering medical services such as eye and dental clinics, maternal and child health, and specialist care for tuberculosis. Additional services included drug prevention programs, local and international employment opportunities, vocational training, tree planting, and waste management initiatives.
