The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) announced that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or institution that sells medicines above the maximum retail prices set by the government.

The Authority said that the updated list of 350 medicines for which maximum price limits were introduced—tabled in Parliament yesterday—has now been released to the public. The revised price list is available on the official NMRA website.

NMRA Chairman Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama stated that certain medicines have been reduced by up to 40 percent under the new pricing regulations. He emphasised that the Authority will closely monitor the market to ensure compliance and safeguard consumers from unfair pricing practices.
