Twenty-five police officers, including several Officers-in-Charge (OICs), have been transferred with immediate effect, the Police said.
According to the statement, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) approved the transfers with the concurrence of the National Police Commission. The transfers come into effect from today and are reportedly part of an administrative reshuffle.
Meanwhile, former Norochcholai OIC Ravi Padmakumara, who has been accused of maintaining links with drug traffickers, has been transferred to the Gampaha Division with effect from the 19th.
Police further confirmed that an investigation is currently underway against Padmakumara on the orders of the IGP.
