Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa has confirmed that the party has suspended the membership of a local council candidate arrested in connection with a massive narcotics seizure off Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
Speaking on social media platform X, Premadasa said the suspension is effective immediately, and the party will conduct a separate inquiry to decide further action.
“The SJB strongly opposes the narco trade, which is a cancer on our society. We support reforming laws to ensure the harshest penalties for those involved in such illegal activities,” he added.
