Former President and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe left Sri Lanka for Chennai, India, on the morning of November 21, airport officials confirmed.

He was accompanied by his wife, Maithri Wickremesinghe, and both arrived at Katunayake Airport in the early hours before boarding SriLankan Airlines flight UL-121 at 8:40 a.m.

The trip comes as political tensions continue in Sri Lanka, with opposition groups planning rallies and protests across Colombo and other regions. Observers suggest the visit may provide Wickremesinghe an opportunity to meet political allies and monitor developments amid the ongoing unrest.
