Lanka Railways announced that two night mail trains operating between Colombo Fort and Badulla have been cancelled today (19).
The decision was taken after a rockfall and an earth slip obstructed the railway track between Ohiya and Idalgashinna on the Up-country Railway Line, following heavy rainfall in the area.
As a result, both the night mail train scheduled to depart from Colombo Fort to Badulla and the train operating from Badulla to Colombo Fort will not run today. Railway authorities say restoration work is underway and further updates will be issued as conditions improve.
