MP Jagath Vithana has announced that he will not accept the cab allocated to him under the 2026 budget proposal, which includes the importation of vehicles for Members of Parliament.
In a letter to the government, Vithana requested that the authorities refrain from importing a cab on his behalf. He noted that if his request is honoured, only 1,774 vehicles should be imported, emphasising that bringing down 1,775 cabs despite his refusal would be a serious injustice to taxpayers.
The MP has also requested that the Ministry of Finance formally inform him of its decision regarding his appeal.
