MP Jagath Vithana said he will not accept the cab allocated to him under the 2026 Budget proposal, which includes importing vehicles for Members of Parliament.
In a letter to the authorities, Vithana urged the government to refrain from importing a cab for him, stressing that only 1,774 vehicles should be brought down if his request is respected. He noted that importing 1,775 cabs despite his refusal would be an injustice to taxpayers.
He has also requested that the Ministry of Finance formally inform him of its decision regarding his appeal.
