Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, said that a circular will be issued tomorrow to establish drug prevention committees in all government institutions.

Addressing the media, the Minister said ongoing drug raids have uncovered large quantities of narcotics. “Heads of ministries, departments, and institutions must take action to make their workplaces drug-free. Disciplinary action will be taken against anyone involved in drug trafficking,” he stated.

The committees will also be formed in schools, universities, and other educational institutions. “Raids show drug trafficking occurs from high schools to remote villages. Preventive measures must be taken across all institutions,” Wijepala added.
