The annual budget of the Padiyathalawa Pradeshiya Sabha, which is administered by the National People’s Power (NPP), was defeated by a majority of four votes today (14).
Seven NPP members and one member of the United People’s Front voted in favor of the budget. However, the remaining 12 opposition members voted against it, leading to its defeat.
Meanwhile, the budget of the Thanamalwila Pradeshiya Sabha resulted in a tie, with 17 votes in favor and 17 votes against. Due to the deadlock, the chairman’s vote was sought to determine the outcome.
Following the chairman’s casting vote, the National People’s Power succeeded in passing the Thanamalwila Pradeshiya Sabha budget.
