The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory warning of severe lightning, effective until 11.00 p.m. today (13).
According to the statement, there is a high possibility of severe lightning accompanied by thundershowers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
The department further noted that temporary strong winds may also occur during thundershowers in these areas.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of accidents caused by lightning.
