The National Food Promotion Board (NFPB) has reported that this year’s green gram harvest across the country has surpassed expectations.

While the anticipated yield was around 250 to 300 kilograms per acre, actual harvests have reached 350 to 400 kilograms per acre, the board said. In Hambantota district alone, the green gram harvest is estimated to be between 6,500 and 7,000 metric tons.

The NFPB added that 15 metric tons of green gram were purchased yesterday from the Weerawila and Lunama areas, reflecting strong procurement activity.
