The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports to construct a fully equipped indoor sports stadium in the Northern Province at an estimated cost of Rs. 170 million.
The new facility is intended to promote the development of indoor sports such as table tennis, tennis, badminton, netball, and chess among school athletes and local sports clubs.
The initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to revitalize sports and improve infrastructure in the Northern Province, which continues to recover from decades of conflict.
Authorities expect the project to boost youth participation, strengthen regional sports development, and foster social integration through greater community engagement in sports.
