Sri Lanka has officially signed the agreement for next year’s (2026) Hajj pilgrimage on 9 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was signed by the Sri Lankan delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Muneer Mulaffer, and Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Abdulfattah Bin Sulaiman Mashat.
According to the agreement, Sri Lanka’s official Hajj quota for 2026 has been set at 3,500 pilgrims. The pact underscores the mutual commitment of both governments to ensure the smooth facilitation and welfare of Sri Lankan pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj season.
During the signing, Deputy Minister Mulaffer highlighted the measures being undertaken by the Sri Lankan Government to streamline and regulate Hajj operations in the country, including the introduction of a draft Hajj Act aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Hajj Committee Chairperson Reyaz Mihular detailed the Committee’s ongoing efforts in improving operational processes and strengthening its regulatory framework to ensure a well-coordinated pilgrimage experience for all participants.
