A married couple has been arrested by the Nugegoda Divisional Children and Women’s Bureau for uploading nude videos of themselves to an adult-only website based in England.
Police investigations revealed that the husband is a computer engineering graduate and the wife holds a psychology diploma, both from private universities. Senior Superintendent Mangala Dehideniya directed the probe, led by Chief Inspector Sapugoda.
The couple, residing on the top floor of a three-storey house in Rajagiriya, were identified and taken into custody. Police confirmed that the videos were filmed in their residence, with sets matching household furniture and interiors. Several electronic devices, including a mobile phone and laptop used to record, edit, and send the content, were seized.
Investigators found that 334 videos had been uploaded, with the couple claiming they acted after losing their jobs unexpectedly. Under a contract signed in November last year with the UK company, they were required to provide eight videos per month, earning between Rs. 150,000 and 200,000 per video, with additional income linked to view counts.
The website became accessible in Sri Lanka only last August, leading the couple to believe their identities would remain anonymous. Police confirmed that the couple has no children.
The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Aluthgama Magistrate’s Court.
