Effective from January 1, 2026, all service fees for electronic payments made to government institutions will be waived, the government announced.

In addition, to encourage the use of the QR code payment system, provisions will be made under the expenditure head of the Ministry of Digital Economy to ensure that QR code transactions valued below Rs. 5,000 can be made free of charge.

The initiative aims to promote digital payments and enhance convenience for citizens while supporting the government’s broader digital transformation agenda.
