Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is poised for rapid growth, with the government setting ambitious targets to increase tourism earnings to USD 8 billion and attract 4 million visitors by 2030.
To achieve these goals, the government has initiated a restructuring of key institutions in the tourism industry to enhance productivity and coordination among stakeholders — a longstanding challenge hindering the sector’s development.
In addition to institutional reforms, authorities highlighted the need for continued investment in infrastructure and human resource development, alongside a comprehensive and integrated marketing and promotional campaign. These measures aim to strengthen all segments of the tourism industry and position Sri Lanka as a leading travel destination in the region.
