President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said Sri Lanka has spent US$ 1.3 billion on vehicle imports by October 31 this year.
Speaking today while presenting the 2026 Budget, the President added that the budget deficit is expected to be reduced to 5.2 percent this year.
He further projected that state revenue will exceed 15.3 percent of GDP by 2026, with a long-term goal of increasing it to 20 percent.
The President emphasized that these measures form part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the economy, manage fiscal discipline, and enhance revenue generation.
