A 19-year-old youth from Ransagoda has gone missing after being swept away by strong currents while bathing at Talalla beach yesterday (5), police said.
According to the Gandara Police, the youth had been in the water with five others when he was dragged away by the current and disappeared.
Lifeguards from the Hiriketiya Police Station, along with personnel from the Sri Lanka Navy, have launched a search operation to locate the missing youth.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Gandara Police.
