Eight parcels suspected to contain hashish were discovered this morning on the beach near a tourist hotel close to the Kalutara South Lagoon, police said.
According to reports, tour guides in the area spotted the suspicious parcels and immediately informed officers of the Kalutara Katukurunda Special Task Force (STF).
STF personnel later arrived at the scene and took the parcels into custody for further examination.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the parcels and whether they are linked to any drug trafficking operations along the coastal area.
