A trader in Nuwara Eliya has been fined Rs.500,000 after being found guilty of selling a bottle of drinking water above the maximum retail price.
The raid was carried out by a team of investigation officers from the Nuwara Eliya Unit of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA), led by Senior Investigation Officer Amila Ratnayake. The operation was conducted under the directives of Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Thushari Thennakoon and Assistant Director of the CAA Central Province, K.A. Prodeep Kaluarachchi.
