A group of Special Task Force (STF) officers from the Kilinochchi Police came under attack during a raid on illegal liquor in the Sudalakulam area of the Ramanadapuram Police Division.
Police said a group of individuals armed with iron rods and wooden sticks assaulted the officers, freed a suspect who had been arrested, and fled the scene.
Two STF officers injured in the attack are currently receiving treatment at the Kilinochchi Hospital. Following the incident, Ramanadapuram Police arrested five suspects in connection with the assault.
The suspects, aged between 16 and 32 years, include several female residents of the Ramanadapuram area, aged between 26 and 45 years.
They are expected to be produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court today (03), while further investigations are underway.
