Train operations on the Main Line have been disrupted following the derailment of a fuel transport train, Sri Lanka Railways announced.
According to the Railway Department, the incident occurred this morning (02) between the Mirigama and Wilwatte railway stations.
Officials said that railway services along the affected stretch have been temporarily suspended as recovery operations are underway to remove the derailed compartments and restore normal traffic.
No injuries have been reported so far, and Sri Lanka Railways has launched an investigation into the cause of the derailment.
