A suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident was arrested yesterday (31) during a raid conducted by officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) Moratuwa camp in the Hingurana, Damana.
The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the STF. The suspect had been wanted for shooting and wounding a person in the Hirana area on July 11 and for allegedly planning to carry out another shooting in the Panadura Police Division.
During the arrest, officers found 13 grams of heroin in his possession.
The arrested suspect, a 39-year-old resident of Hingurana, is currently under further investigation by the Damana and Hirana Police Stations as well as the Panadura Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau.
