The Sri Lanka Army held a special felicitation ceremony yesterday to honour its athletes who excelled at the 4th South Asian Senior Athletics Championship 2025 held in India.
At the event, held at the Army Headquarters, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, commended the athletes for their exceptional performances and dedication. The Army team showcased remarkable talent, securing 12 gold, 8 silver, and 7 bronze medals at the championship.
During the ceremony, the Army Chief personally appreciated the athletes’ commitment and presented cash incentives to encourage their continued success in upcoming competitions. In recognition of their outstanding achievements, 18 Army athletes were also promoted to their substantive ranks.
The event highlighted the Sri Lanka Army’s strong contribution to national sports and its ongoing efforts to support and develop athletic excellence among its members.
