The Department of Immigration and Emigration announced that the previously declared mandatory requirement for obtaining an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for all short-stay visitors (tourism and business) to Sri Lanka, effective from 15 October 2025, has been revoked until further notice.
All ETA-related services and other visa issuance procedures will continue to operate as they were prior to 15 October 2025, without any changes.
The department also urged travelers to comply with immigration regulations to avoid imprisonment, penalties, or other legal complications, including illegal entry, forgery of travel documents, or misuse of visit/tourist visas for employment or other unauthorized purposes.
